NOSE CONTOURING : EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

I feel like this is a very important part of your makeup routine. It's that one blog post that I spill ALL. My pet peeve is when I see obvious nose contour! As a perfectionist, harsh contour really irks me.

I'm going to explain my knowledge on nose contouring as much as I can and I will include diagrams to show you. Many of you reading this have either hook, slight hook, bulbous nose, drooping tip, wide bridge, crooked from the front, long, short, wide... Which ever shape you have there are ways to make it less prominent. I'm not a surgeon so I won't promise perfect results.. Just enough for it to look smaller? Defined? YES.

Some of you, like me who have a wide nose and others who have decided to choose to go under the knife and try rhinoplasty which is a personal preference. Some of you who have fear of going under the knife to have their nose reshaped. That's where contouring comes in (woohoo!)

The first thing to remember when contouring is THE MORE YOU SHADE THE MORE OBVIOUS IT WILL LOOK! I see women in real life and all over social media and I am automatically drawn to the middle of there face because the contouring is either one harsh, too orange making the nose look more prominent.

The contour shade you choose for your nose must be lighter than the one you use for your cheeks and the rest of your face. Whether your using cream or powder it always has to be a cool tone. Cool tones mimic the natural contours and shadows of the face.

STOP following the contour pictures you see on Instagram, everyone's nose is different and seeing the same contour and highlight on everyone's nose bothers Me. The key to a perfect contoured nose is BLENDING. You have to blend the product nicely into the skin to achieve that natural contoured nose without any harsh lines.

                                                            HERE WE GO

     1. WIDE BRIDGE AND NOSTRILS.

If you have a wide bridge concentrate on shading out the darker areas of this diagram and then connect with the sides of the nostrils. This is best done with a cream contour. The cream contour should be applied lightly on the nose for easy blending. It will take some practice before you perfect it.

     2. LONG NARROW NOSE

You want to make your nose appear shorter but a little wider too. Down your nose use a concealer that's three shades lighter after that apply the contour shade. Concentrate on the tips and the sides of the nose. Blend well with a beauty blender or makeup sponge or Mac 224 brush until seamless.

     3. BUMP/HOOK

STOP highlighting all the way down, you only need the tip highlighted. Shade out the bump, like shown in the diagram.

     4. BULBOUS NOSE.

Use a flat concealer brush to apply cream contour for precision, follow where the light grey color on the diagram. You want to stop where I have put the black line. Use a powder or a white eyeshadow in the center, making sure it's a thin line. Buff and blend with any small blending brush.

Best done over your foundation because it shows more but not obvious. The key is to blend. It's pretty simple to follow the directions on these images that's why there's less description. Be patient and practice. I'm not promising miracles but it's a difference

                                                   Conquer that contour!

MAKEUP COMMANDMENTS FROM MY BEAUTY BIBLE...

I've currently been working on this amazing idea of having my own beauty bible and Its basically all about things we all need to know when applying makeup and doing it correctly. I can't wait to share with you dolls all my makeup commandments. I have learned some great tips from youtube and also myself. I hope they work out for you too. Continue reading to learn more about these makeup commandments i can't stop obsessing over.

     1. ALWAYS DAB ON MOISTURIZER OR PRIMER BEFORE FOUNDATION.
Most important of the makeup commandments is where you actually start applying your makeup. There are actually makeup artists who believe that it's unorthodox to spread on foundation directly on to bare skin. I believe that makeup primer helps to create an extraordinary smooth surface. The first step is apply moisturizer onto my clean skin and then I dab my primer. Your makeup will then appear to just melt right into your face rather than lay weirdly on top of it This would keep your makeup intact and you slay all day.

     2. DON'T TEST FOUNDATION ON YOUR HAND, TEST WITH THE JAWLINE TO FIND THE PERFECT MATCH.
It is a beauty myth to believe that you should always test foundation of the back of your hand. The truth is that your hands are usually darker than your face or some times lighter than your face. Its a better idea to draw stripes of foundation on your jawline, and then study them in natural light.

     3. INVEST IN GOOD QUALITY BRUSHES.
The following is a list of brushes you only need to trust for a great makeup turnout; 2 flat, synthetic brushes for concealer, 2 dome-tipped, natural-bristle eyeshadow brushes, a 1.5' natural- bristle blush brush, and an oversize natural-bristle brush for loose powder.

4.DONT BE AFRAID TO APPLY COLOR WITH YOUR FINGERS.
The rule for using your fingers is as follows; if the area is larger than your fingertip, go onward and use it. If its smaller, pick up a brush. Anything you have that comes in a gel or cream form is basically begging to be tapped on with your fingers. The heat in your fingers is like the best blending tool for areas such as your face, eyes.

     5. BLUSH SHOULD GO ON THE APPLES OF THE CHEEKS, NOT IN THE HOLLOWS.
There is absolutely no reason why you should be making that fish face when applying blush! Swirl blush only on the apples of your cheeks. If you don't know where they are, smile and you'll see them. Blend just lightly up and out toward your temples. You should be thinking circles, not stripes. If you're looking for a natural look, start with a tiny dab of blush, and then build slowly to increase the intensity.

     6. HIGHLIGHTER CAN ACCENTUATE YOUR BONE STRUCTURE, BUT USE IT SPARINGLY.
Highlighters are for accentuating and creating a contour in a flattering way. A little can go a long way so pat or brush the highlighter directly on the tops of the cheekbones, over or under blush, and along the brow bones.

     7. A LITTLE TRANSLUCENT LOOSE POWDER GOES A LONG WAY.
Powder is not about color but really about texture. Don't choose a shade that matches or enhances the color of your skin, choose a truly translucent formula. This means choosing a powder with as little pigment as possible. After dipping your large fluffy brush , or your damp beauty blender into the powder, give it a strong tap against the side of the pot, and then apply it just to your T-zone which would help control shine and also dab the beauty blender under your eyes to set your concealer.

So this is all I have decided to share with everyone. I hope this is able to help teach you new things and correct your old ways of applying makeup. Hope you liked my commandments from my makeup bible....

HOW TO CORRECT THE MOST COMMON MAKEUP MISTAKES.....

Very few of us have been either professionally trained in how to apply makeup or some of us like me are self taught and started learning from watching youtube videos. So it stands to reason that we're going to make a mistake every now and then. These're some of the most common makeup mistakes women make. If you're aware of them then you can be sure they don't happen to you!

     1.  THE DREADED FOUNDATION LINE.
This's a makeup mistake you can spot from a mile away. When someone makes this mistake, you almost feel embarrassed for them. It happens when you're wearing the wrong shade or you don't blend your makeup in carefully. If you suspect you're wearing a foundation color that's not right for you then ask a consultant for help at your favorite makeup counter. And blend, blend, blend!

     2. CONCEALER CAKING UNDER YOUR EYE AND CREASING UNDER YOUR EYE.
This one happens very easily.  In fact, i'd say it's happened to almost all of us at one time or another. Concealer is a magical makeup product but it can be cakey. To prevent this, make sure you pat your concealer in instead of rubbing it.  Also, remember a little goes a long way. To avoid creases under your eyes make sure you set your under eye concealer with setting powder to avoid the concealer from moving. This prevents creasing under the eye and gives you a flawless look. This is a very important step in your makeup routine.

      3. CONTOURING CAN MAKE YOU LOOK DIRTY.
Contouring is really tricky. It can make your face look absolutely stunning, not to mention slimmer. But it's not easy to accomplish. If you master your facial structure properly and use the right shade for your skintone to contour you can achieve a flawless look other than looking dirty. If you feel like contouring makes your face look dirty then you're either using a product that's too dark or you're applying too much of it. Try switching to using the right shade for your skin tone and apply lightly to get a nice finish.

     4. YOUR BLUSH LOOKS TOO STRONG .
This's one I have to be careful about when applying cause I don't want it over shadowing my contour.
Blush that looks too strong distracts from the rest of my makeup.  In fact, its all everyone would really focus on. If your blush looks more like paint than a natural flush, tone it down by blending it out and adding a light layer of powder on top.

     5. EYESHADOW FADES INTO CREASE
Some women have more trouble with this than others. It seems like women who have oily skin or oily eye lids struggler with it the most. The solution to it is simple. Apply an eye primer before you apply your eyeshadow. If you still have problems with the only eyeshadow left at the end of the day being in the crease then you need to shop for a better brand of primer to avoid your eyeshadow from creasing and lasting all day.

     6. EYE LASHES AND EYELASH BAND LOOKING MESSY AND DIRTY.
This is one problem i really think we ladies need to pay more attention. When applying your strip lashes make sure the lash band is clean to avoid having a messy look. Make sure you take away the excess dried up glue from the last time you used the lashes before re using it. Apply little eye lash glue on your lashes so it would appear neat and easy for you to handle when applying your lashes. You clearly don't want to be that crazy girl walking around with messy eyelashes. If your lashes are dirty make sure you wash it with warm water and a mild facial cleanser carefully  and you have a nice clean pair of lashes. I cant stress enough about how important this is. Please take your time when applying your lashes.

     7. UNFLATTERING LIPSTICK .
Lipstick can be the finishing touch that makes your whole look come together. It can also make your makeup look very, very, wrong. Start by wearing shades that are flattering on your skin tone and ones you feel comfortable in the most. Shop for shades that's close to your lip color ; this's what makeup junkies frequently refer to as a " your lips but better " shade. Ask a friend who's talented with makeup to come along if you feel you need help.

These're 7 common makeup mistakes. which ones are a struggle for you? I love reading your comments!
